Kim Brook was born in South Korea before being adopted by Dutch immigrants in New Jersey. The path of defining her identity as a 1.5 immigrant and Korean American adoptee led Kim to art school. There she studied ceramics and studied abroad in Seoul, South Korea.
Currently, Kim is a resident artist at 323 Clay (Independence, MO). In addition, she teaches youth visual arts education at the Lawrence Art Center (Lawrence, KS), teaches at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center, travels to Western Kansas for art outreach programs, and maintains a studio practice.
