Mid-America Arts Alliance is pleased to announce the hiring of Huascar Medina and Jade Osborne as Program Associates to the Artist Services Department.
Huascar Medina will be assuming the position of Artist Services Program Associate working with Artist INC programming.
Huascar Medina (he/him) has lived artfully in Kansas for over 20 years. He currently serves as the 7th Poet Laureate of Kansas and as a 2022 Academy of American Poets Poet Laureate Fellow. Medina is the Lit Editor for seveneightfive magazine, creator/host of Kansas is Lit on 785live.com, a staff editor at South Broadway Press, a Sunday columnist at the Kansas Reflector, and a founding member of the Kansas Arts Writing Cohort. Medina cares deeply about the advancement of the arts and artists. He takes great pride in the organizations, agencies, councils and programs he has been able to work alongside at the local, state and federal level. Those affiliations include ArtsConnect, Artist INC, Art as Mentorship, Humanities Kansas, Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission and the National Council on the Arts.
Jade Osborne will be assuming the position of Artist Services Program Associate working with the Artists 360 and Interchange grant programs.
Jade Osborne (she/her) is a motivated, innovative creative person who is passionate about the arts and community. She has a long-term commitment to social work and arts education. Jade is a performing and visual artist, choreographer and experiential curator. She explores the space between identity of self and the other, the what that defines one path from another. The making the mundane sacred, through ritual, repetition, and inclusion. Jade’s performances and installations are alive and transform from artist conception with community intention. Her work has garnered awards from ArtsKC, Missouri Arts Council, Art in the Loop, Kansas Arts Commission and the KC Fringe Festival.
