The Bloedel Reserve Creative Residency is open to professional and emerging artists, composers, writers, botanists, landscape architects, researchers, and others with work relating to nature. This residency program on the Bloedel grounds provides unlimited access to the Reserve’s 150 acres of sculpted gardens, forests, meadows, and wildlife habitats. There is a $25 application fee.
Creative Residents are housed in a small home off the main paths, hidden in the woods. The home is furnished, including bed and bath linens, shampoo, etc. The kitchen is stocked with essentials such as cookware, spices, and tea. Wi-Fi and laundry facilities are available in the home. Residents are responsible for their own meals. There is a smart car available for Residents’ use.
At present, there is no dedicated studio space on the grounds. Residents utilize the building as their studio. Residents stay one at a time, there is no overlap.
Bloedel Reserve is located on Bainbridge Island between Seattle, WA and the Kitsap Peninsula. The island is accessible via a 35 minute Ferry trip from Seattle or by car via the Kitsap Peninsula.
Deadline to apply is September 15.
