Robert Moses’ Kin (RMK) is seeking choreographers, playwrights, librettists, and composers to apply for a paid commission for the creation of an Anthology of original works as a part of its upcoming project NEW LEGACIES: ONE ACT DANCES in Spring 2025.
This is a program of shared authorship and shared rights. Candidates should be comfortable working in an especially collaborative environment where their creative process is shared with other artists. Having a connection to the San Francisco Bay Area is a plus, but not required.
RMK seeks artists that are passionate about exploring concepts surrounding the evolution of their own legacy and its impact on the greater community: How is the tree of your legacy constructed? How deep are the roots? What branches of ideas have you invested time in growing? How are you seeding the greater conversation so that your art betters the world? Where are you dropping these seeds?
Working collaboratively across disciplines, artists will create a dance-based work that is complete in its own right and will also serve as a part of a triptych.
RMK is seeking:
- Choreographers that have a background of using dense physical movement as a storytelling mechanism.
- Playwrights / Librettists with experience in both traditional and non-traditional modes, in ways that are comprehensible, meaningful, and relatable to an audience.
- Composers that approach music as evocative, technical, and elevating. Their music should tell us both what we feel, and what we might feel.
Artists are encouraged to apply as teams of three, with each artist primarily representing each of the above.
