Dorothy Day Cabin Artist Residency (KC Area) / Due: September 27

The Dorothy Day Cabin Artist Residency is currently accepting submissions from visual artists (including painters, sculptors, and mixed media artists) as well as humanities artists (such as creative writers, non-fiction writers, and poets) for the inaugural live-in artist residency at the Dorothy Day Cabin (for visual artists, small works or plein air are preferred, due to the limited access to studio/ floor space in the cabin). This residency aims to provide artists with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the tranquil and historic setting, fostering creativity and artistic growth.

The historic Dorothy Day Cabin in Parkville, Missouri, is named after its last inhabitant, artist Dorothy Day, is abundant with natural beauty and historical significance. The cabin offers uninterrupted time for artists to create and immerse themselves in nature. The setting provides an almost off-the-grid experience, with the rustic cabin offering modern amenities such as heating, cooling, running water, and electricity, but no Internet or TV. Despite being surrounded by nature in southern Platte, the cabin is only 15 minutes away from downtown Kansas City.
