The Lighton International Artists Exchange Program (LIAEP) provides financial support (up to $7,000 each) for visual artists and arts professionals to travel to international residencies and artist communities and for foreign visual artists to travel to and work in the United States. This grant offers mid-career visual artists and arts professionals the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in international residencies and artist communities.
LIAEP is dedicated to fostering global connections and cultural understanding through artistic
exchange. By supporting artists from diverse backgrounds, the program aims to enrich creative
development, expand access to the art of other cultures, and deepen mutual understanding across
borders.
LIAEP is particularly interested in funding mid-career artists who have not yet had the chance to
work abroad, as well as those seeking to travel to and from less Westernized countries. Artists
from Kansas City and the Central Plains/Midwest area receive first priority for funding.
