NewFest: The New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival / Due: May 15

The New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival is seeking submissions!

NewFest will celebrate its 36th annual edition of The New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival in October 2024–throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, and virtually nationwide–with nearly two weeks of premieres, panels, and parties. NewFest’s collection of narratives, documentaries, shorts programs, and special events showcases LGBTQ+ film and media.

The New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival is produced annually by NewFest.

Velvetpark Residency is a project based work-studio, awarded through a selection process by open application. It is open to LGBTQ+ writers and visual artists to complete a proposed project. The residency is for a 6 month term. The Vp Residency is housed within Crown Studios, an artist building on a floor of eleven working arts professionals in the Crown and Prospect Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York. For almost two decades Velvetpark has recognized queer people in the arts, academia and activism, by featuring stories on, by, or about these individuals in the pages of the print magazine and online. The New Voices Filmmaker Grant is a partnership between Netflix and NewFest supports emerging LGBTQ+ filmmakers. Four filmmakers with documentary, narrative, animated or episodic projects by and about the LGBTQ+ community will each receive a $25,000 grant.
