Velvetpark Residency is a project based work-studio, awarded through a selection process by open application. It is open to LGBTQ+ writers and visual artists to complete a proposed project.
Writers Application Now Open Sept., 20, 2020—deadline November 15th, 2020, 11:59pm. Awardee for the Winter/Spring term will be notified on or before Dec 15, 2020 and announced on the Vp site Dec 20th. Residency will commence January 5th, 2021. Winter/Spring term ends June 30th, 2021.
The studio will be awarded bi-yearly, and will alternate between writers Winter/Spring 2021, and visual artists Summer/Fall 2021 respectively.
Velvetpark‘s Residency award is for an artist, writer, creator at any stage in their career open to anyone age eighteen and above, who is not enrolled in an academic program. Applicant may request a 3 or 6 month term, as indicated in application form.
The Vp Residency is housed within Crown Studios, an artist building on a floor of eleven working arts professionals in the Crown and Prospect Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York.
Covid 19 : Crown Studios has so far been a Covid-free environment. Current residents abide by state/city guidelines on safety precautions, in addition to rules followed at Crown Studios. Crown Studios common areas are cleaned regularly. Visitors are limit in number and all visitors must wear masks.
