Tanesha Payne

Tanesha Payne (she/they) is a San Antonio–based movement artist, teaching artist, and creative justice facilitator with over 20 years of professional experience. Working through contemporary dance, improvisation, and community-engaged movement, her practice centers embodiment, connection, and exploration. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of sumRset Movement and a Jacob’s Pillow Curriculum in Motion Practitioner, as well as a former Mellon’s Democratizing Racial Justice Artist-in-Residence. Payne is currently an Artist Leadership Fellowship cohort member through Mid-America Arts Alliance. She holds a BFA from Texas State University and an MFA from Jacksonville University.
