Charlotte Street Studio Residency / Due: March 25

Located in Kansas City, Missouri, Charlotte Street offers a two-year studio residency program for exceptional artists of various disciplines.

Charlotte Street’s Studio Residency Program provides free studio and rehearsal spaces to a mixed disciplinary cohort of exceptional artists for 2 year-long terms. Through the program’s offerings—which include free studio space, advisors, public programs, monthly cohort meetings and presentations, studio visits and access to a multidisciplinary network of artist peers—Charlotte Street’s Studio Residency Program encourages creative production, artistic experimentation, professional development, and community building. The program fosters Charlotte Street’s values of risk taking, openness, excellence, and collaboration by creating an environment where artists use the platforms and resources available to meet personal goals and career milestones.

The 2023 Studio Residents are selected through a competitive juried portfolio process. Artists will be notified the week of May 13, 2024. The two-year term begins June 23, 2024.

The Queer Narratives Festival is the premiere visual and performing arts destination for LGBTQ+ artists in Kansas City. The 5th Annual Queer Narratives Festival includes 8 weeks of LGBTQ+ programming that includes the visual art exhibit in partnership with InterUrban ArtHouse taking place throughout June, July and August. It culminates in the Main Festival taking place the first weekend in August which features 2 nights of performances of all varieties. When: Main Festival August 2 and 3, 2024 All Events: Queer Narratives Festival June 17-August 1 Where: Main Festival 2016 Main Event Space 2016 Main St, Kansas City, MO 64108 Interested in participating?? Apply to be either a Visual Artist or Performing Artist using the submission forms below. Performing artists receive an artist stipend of $300-$400 depending on size and set length. Set lengths range from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. Visual Artists receive an artist stipend of $100 and also have the opportunity to sell their work during the exhibit. Please note that the visual artists' work will be shown as part of InterUrban ArtHouse's Identity Exhibit. InterUrban ArtHouse takes a 30% commission of all exhibition sales. Dates for the exhibit are listed in the submission form. Artisans, craftspeople and vendors: You will have the opportunity to participate in our QNF Art Fair, taking place on Friday, July 19 at InterUrban ArtHouse. Velvetpark Residency is a project based work-studio, awarded through a selection process by open application. It is open to LGBTQ+ writers and visual artists to complete a proposed project. The residency is for a 6 month term. The Vp Residency is housed within Crown Studios, an artist building on a floor of eleven working arts professionals in the Crown and Prospect Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York. For almost two decades Velvetpark has recognized queer people in the arts, academia and activism, by featuring stories on, by, or about these individuals in the pages of the print magazine and online.
