Good Hart Artist Residency / Deadlines: January 12, February 16

Good Hart Artist Residency offers visual artists, writers, and composers full room and board, a meal or two provided by a local host, a $500 stipend, and quiet, natural surroundings in Michigan to concentrate on creative work.

Applications for Visual Artists is January 12th.

Residency Time Slots Open to Visual Artists:

  • May 11 – 25, 2022
  • June 15 – 30, 2022  – Parent-Artist Residency, up to a 2-week stay (some flexibility on arrival/departure dates)- potentially partnered with Harbor Inc.
  • July 29 – August 12, 2022 – partnered with Crooked Tree Arts Center – Petoskey
  • August 19 – September 2, 2022 – Elevating Diverse Voices – Curated Residency
  • October 12 – 26, 2022 – partnered with Little Traverse Conservancy

Applications for Writers and Composers are due February 16th.

Residency Time Slots Open to Writers and Composers

  • September 20 – October 4, 2022 – Writer residency partnered with Harbor Springs Festival of the Book
  • November 2 – 17, 2022 – Composer/Songwriter residency partnered with Springfed Arts – Lamb’s Retreat for Songwriters
  • January 11 – 25, 2023 – Writer residency
  • February 1 – 15, 2023 – Writer residency
  • February 22 – March 8, 2023 – Composer/Songwriter residency partnered with Big Water Creative Arts
  • March 15 – 29, 2023 – Writer residency

Residency includes:

  • A one, two, or three-week residency stay depending on the program selected.  Most residencies are two weeks long.
  • Use of the 1,150 sqft residence and a 24×14 detached studio(for visual artists).  Housekeeping services are not provided and the resident is asked to leave the residence and studio space clean and in good order.
  • Food is provided.  The residence has a fully stocked and well equipped kitchen for the resident to prepare meals. 
  • $500.00 stipend
