The Greater Denton Arts Council (GDAC) is a catalyst for creativity, advocacy and collaboration.
The Greater Denton Arts Council has served the Denton community since 1971. The Arts Council provides foundational support for Denton’s artists and community arts organizations and collaborates frequently with area universities, the Denton Independent School District, and the City of Denton. The Arts Council presents a full schedule of programs and exhibitions in its flagship facility in historic downtown Denton, the Patterson-Appleton Center Arts Center.
Paper Chair was founded by Joshua Steven Bryant and Delaney Smith-Vaughn in the Summer of 2025. As educators that work with creatives, and as artists themselves, they deeply feel the lack of studios, substantial funding, and visibility for artists in Denton.
Denton is rich in creatives, but needs the scaffolding and support to thrive. Paper Chair is committed to being the glue by providing essential resources and advocating for the arts in North Texas.
Paper Chair is an artist-led organization, including the founders and board of directors. In addition to improving the lives of artists, investing in the arts will benefit the community economically and improve physical and mental well-being of our town.
By collaborating with local and regional art orgs, Paper Chair shares resources and has a stronger, deeper reach in supporting creatives.
