Bo Hubbard

Bo Hubbard is an artist and administrator based in Brooklyn, NY. He earned his BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute. Bo currently works as an administrator for Barnard College of Columbia University, Mid-America Arts Alliance, and as a freelance advisor to artists and arts organizations. He is technically trained painting, papermaking, and fiber arts. In his artwork, he investigates color, shape, and composition to create surreal, abstract landscapes.  

Prior to relocating to New York, Bo lived in Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for the Kansas City Art Institute and the Downtown Art’s Council of Kansas City. Bo was the Art Director for the Art in the Loop Foundation for two consecutive years. He has participated in residencies with the Charlotte Street Foundation, Ox-Bow School of Art, Penland School of Craft, and the Oklahoma Arts Institute. He received national recognition for his work with Alter Art Space, a queer artist collective co-founded by Hubbard. Bo’s work was featured at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art for the exhibition, Queer Abstraction and remains in the Museum’s permanent collection.
