Dylan Bassett is a percussionist, composer, and educator. Dylan has performed throughout the U.S and in Brazil, Cuba, Guinea, Ghana, and Senegal with many talented musicians/groups including Giba Conceição, Mario Pam, Aquim Sacramento, Sekou “Balandougou” Keïta, Souleymane Faye, Babara Bangoura, Bolokada Conde, Luisito y Son Cuba, Son Venezuela, and Sunu. Dylan teaches at the University of Kansas where he directs the KU West African Drum Ensemble (KUWADE) and the Rock Chalk Drummers. Under his direction, KUWADE won the Percussive Arts Society’s 2017 World Percussion Ensemble Competition. Dylan received a Fulbright Specialist Award for 2023-26 and in his first post directed and performed in Festival de Percussão 2 de Julho in Salvador, Brazil.
