Kelly Yarbrough is based in Manhattan, Kansas, and works within a dynamic ecosystem of mixed media drawing, arts administration and community program development that are all directly inspired by the native tallgrass prairie.
Kelly hails from the suburbs of Dallas — a place that forgot it was prairie. With an MFA from Kansas State University, Kelly founded the Tallgrass Artist Residency in 2016 (now a partner program of the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission), and has developed relationships with many arts and ecology partners through her program development work and service leadership roles in Kansas and beyond.
In constant conversation with each other, Kelly’s studio practice and program administration are both fueled by the diversity, resiliency, interdependence, and subtle tenacity modeled by the native landscape. Kelly is represented by Prairiebrooke Gallery in Overland Park, Kansas.
