Oklahoma Art in Public Places Seeks Artists for New Work Commemorating Choctaw Code Talkers / Deadline: December 1

The Oklahoma Arts Council, in partnership with the Oklahoma Office Management and Enterprise Services, announces a call for artists for a painting commemorating the Choctaw Code Talkers of World War 1 for an Oklahoma Art in Public Places project at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

The artwork will be placed in the west hallway of the second floor, in an area proposed as the “Hall of Heroes.”  The vision for this project is a historically accurate representation of a group of World War 1-era Choctaw Code Talkers in uniform.  The artist selected will receive $15,000 to create the work.

This opportunity is open to all artists living full-time in Oklahoma.  Artists who are veterans or enrolled members of federally recognized tribes are strongly encouraged to participate.  Deadline for submission is December 1, 2021.
