Bloedel Reserve Residency / Deadline: September 15

Bloedel Reserve’s Residency Program fosters creative thinking inspired by nature and to explore the connection between humans and the environment.

Open to professional and emerging artists, composers, writers, botanists, landscape architects, researchers, and others exploring the themes of nature and the human connection with nature, the Creative Residency at Bloedel Reserve offers Residents a three week stay at a 150-acre internationally renowned public garden and forest preserve.

Creative Residents are housed in a small home off the main paths, hidden in the woods. The home is furnished, including bed and bath linens, shampoo, etc. The kitchen is stocked with essentials such as cookware, spices, and tea. Wi-Fi and laundry facilities are available in the home. Residents are responsible for their own meals. There is a smart car available for Residents’ use. In 2023, Domestic Residents will receive a $1,000 stipend in support of their Residency. International Residents may submit up to $1,000 of expenses for reimbursement.

Residents stay one at a time, there is no overlap. At present, there is no dedicated studio space on the grounds. Residents utilize the building as their studio. There is an electric piano available for use.

Bloedel Reserve is located on Bainbridge Island between Seattle, WA and the Kitsap Peninsula. The island is accessible via a 35 minute Ferry trip from Seattle or by car via the Kitsap Peninsula.
